The pumpkin plants are getting ready to bloom, and the tomatoes are growing like crazy!! :) I love it!
Do you ever wonder why you feel crappy? Look at the labels of the foods you put into your body. I have been reading some books and learning how to eat better, and I can’t believe what’s in some of the foods we eat. Scary!!! I have decided the safest thing to do is to just make it myself. At least then I know exactly what is going into it! :) I’d like to live a healthy, long life. How about you?
The garden is doing so well!!!!! I love that the tomato plants are producing LOTS of little tomatoes and the blueberry bush is looking good and my mint plant is ready to be plucked for some MOJITOS!! We also planted some watermelon and basil and eggplant and chili peppers. I can’t wait to cook with things from our garden!
We decided to dig up a small area of the yard in the back so we could plant a garden.
I bought a couple of blueberry bushes and some strawberry plants to get us started. The blueberry bushes seemed to be doing okay, but the strawberry plants were not looking good at all. I thought I had killed them for sure. Then, a few weeks ago I noticed that the strawberry plants were getting bigger and there were more than we had planted. We planted four of them and now there are seven. AND there are some strawberries on them!

I’m so excited! I can’t wait to try one!
Then I started thinking about what we could plant for the summer and I decided that tomatoes would be a good one. I definitely don’t have a green thumb and I have heard that tomatoes are pretty easy so I bought six tomato starter plants. I probably planted them a little too close together because they are getting huge!! I am looking forward to lots of fresh tomatoes!
I bought all of our plants at NAFCO. I even found the sticks to support the tomatoes at NAFCO. If I can only figure out at what point I am supposed to support the plants by gently tying them to the sticks……
They even have little flowers sprouting already!! This means tomatoes are not too far behind……
At least, I think that’s what that means.
I also picked up a couple of watermelon starters. I definitely think we planted them too close together.
I can’t tell if these guys are doing okay or not. They haven’t seemed to have grown too much since we planted them.
I have another area that is available and I am trying to figure out what I should plant. I thought about cucumbers, and eggplant. I think I would need sticks for both of those though. The plot that we cleared out is just not that big so I should stick to something a little smaller. Hmmmm…..I see a trip to NAFCO in my future……
My Chemical Romance - #SINGItForJapan (by mychemicalromance)
As I sit here looking at this beautiful bridge I realize I have SO many memories here. I came here often as a child. As a teenager, I used to ride my bike out here with my friends. We would lay out by the river and try to get a tan. Or we would just hang out. I even remember coming here once in a while at night to ….drink. (gasp) I know. Hard for you all to believe. I used to bring my boys here all of the time. They have played in the river. Lit some fireworks. Ooh! I used to do that too with my friends!! I have brought Thomas and Corey here just to get ice cream. Corey and I have come here a few times just to get grilled squid!! On a stick!! Yum!! I still come out here just to get an ice cream cone at my favorite ice cream stand. I never get tired of coming here. I love walking around any time of the year. The cherry blossoms are beautiful in the spring. In the summer, everything is so green! I love all of the colors in the fall!! I even think it’s beautiful in the winter. No matter how many times I have been here, I still marvel at the beauty of this amazing place! I could never imagine a world without this wonderful place. Which is why my heart breaks for all of the wonderful places that were lost in the tsunami. All of the wonderful memories that were washed away. All of the people who lost everything. All of the people who were lost…..
I don’t care what anyone says. Japanese rice, cooked in a good Japanese rice cooker is the best rice in the world!!!!!! Yes. It does make a difference!! :)
After getting cocoa powder all over myself and the kitchen, I managed to make some decent chocolate frosting. Mission accomplished!!
